About Me

Olga Komisar is somatic coach, certified Sounder Sleep System™ teacher, live somatic teacher (Thomas Hanna based somatics),  with over 15 years of experience working at the intersection of movement, body awareness and art.

My Journey

Originally from Kyiv, Ukraine, my professional path began in art and photography. Through contemporary performance and butoh dance, I became increasingly interested in the body as a place of perception, presence and experience — rather than simply something we use to perform or express.

Exploring the Feldenkrais Method and Thomas Hanna’s somatics deepened this interest and led me toward somatic education and teaching.

Alongside this work, I trained in massage and soft osteopathic techniques and gained experience supporting physical rehabilitation and recovery through volunteer work. These experiences gave me another perspective on the relationship between sensation, movement, attention and the way we experience ourselves.

Becoming a mother to a neurodivergent child also opened a different field of understanding for me, particularly around sensory processing, individual differences and the importance of meeting a person where they are.

Today, these experiences come together in my work as a somatic coach. I see body as a place where our experience becomes perceptible — and where we can develop a different relationship with ourselves through attention, curiosity and awareness.

My Approach

My work brings conversation and somatic awareness together. We begin with what is happening in your life and explore how it is experienced not only in your thoughts and emotions, but also through the body.

As attention moves between conversation and bodily experience, we may notice sensations, breathing, movement, tension, weight or subtle changes in feeling. Sometimes the body reveals something that is difficult to recognise when we are trying to understand an experience through thinking alone.

Gentle movement, breath and rest can become ways of exploring this experience rather than exercises to perform correctly.

Through this process, awareness becomes something lived and felt. With greater awareness can come more acceptance, more room for choice, and a different way of relating to yourself and what is happening in your life.

You may find this way of working relevant if you:

  • feel disconnected from your body or emotions
  • understand something intellectually but still struggle to experience it differently
  • find it difficult to slow down, rest or switch off
  • notice recurring ways of responding that you would like to explore
  • feel overwhelmed or overstimulated
  • want a more embodied and attentive way of approaching difficult situations
